I remember first hearing a D130 during my high school days and that initial impression started me off in "Hi-Fi" I soon learned through comparative listening that it was louder than anything else but not the most honest by any means. The price was $81.00 and it's 12" equivalent the D131 would set you back $78.00.....a lot of money then for a HS kid making .50/ hr. part time after school & weekends. But, the manufacturing precision & finish of that early JBL stuff is seldom seen any more. So, my first foray was a Wharfedale Super 8/FS/AL in a home made 3- 1/2 cu. ft. bass reflex powered by, my first kit, an EICO HF-12 amp. I found a used Miracord changer and installed a GE VR-11 cartridge. I was off and running....wish I still had that setup today; it would still sound good (less the rumble from the Miracord)
