I would suggest a bass reflex box with a Fostex 8" driver.
That will get you started on fullrangers, and not being to expensive while still having some basspunch for rock music.All fullrangers will give you pinpoint 3D stageing,
If you like what you hear, you can try out some backloaded horns, that will give the most dynamic sound.
But then you proberly have to add a subwoofer to get the bass you want for rockmusic.My taste in music is down the same alley as yours, mostly rock. And I´m very happy with Coral 8" fullrange drivers in backloaded horns and a SHIVA based sub for the low notes.
Build a cuople of gainclones for the speakers and use your 50w amps for subs.
