not enough experience with compression drivers and low crossovers but will put my 1 cent on cone midrange such as JBL LE5 or 104 on 250-300Hz tractrix plus ring radiator on top - my 250Hz Edgarhorn had a 275Hz LF knee and went to past 5Khz on-asis - this sounded pretty good with about any amp and very good with a diy parallel 2A3 or Eico ST-70 converted to ppp 6BX7 (both without any loop feedback)
