my apologies - EICO HF 87 - made in the 1960's - a cathode-bias push-pull EL34 Ultralinear design with 1 section of 12AX7 direct-coupled to a cathode coupled 6SN7 phase-splitter - EICO had fine output tranformers and fine sound in stock form - re: clipping - suspect running clss AB1 with cathode bias is worse than fixed bias using a separate negative supply for the output tube grids - sound of this amp up to clipping is excellent (I like this same driver with 6DJ8 instead of AX7 in zero feedback triode amps) -if used with low efficiency speakers (~86dB) can make a baddddd sound when runs out of steam.
