Hi Tom - probably a main weakness was my reluctance to biamp - tried to run all off one low-powered amp with no wooferhorn eq (had transformer chokes on Monolith's dvc woofer) - also needed to damp the outer birch shell surrounding the 100Hz horns (horns themselves are rigid) - it ran on my 90lb pile-o-junk parallel SE 2A3 amp w. 5842Q IT driver ~18"x4"x33" chassis or Eico as ppp 6BX7 - pretty fine on vocals - preamp was a double-mu-follower phono stage with lumped passive RIAA - no line stage - just a 15k attenuator or PAS chassis running passive Riaa and 12Au7 line stage (slightly noisy) - comparing Electric Ladyland on vinyl w. system 100 vs CD reissue on a another system prompted immediate shutdown of the CD which was harsh and compressed vs the lp's subjectively holographic presentaion - also tube preamps seemed much better than solid-state for rendering timbre on vocals and woodwinds - have had mainy tube preamps in past including some of Bruce Moore's old prototypes such as 'New Venusian'would imagine 2-Monotlih biamped and EQ-ed would give some very nice bass
best,
Freddy
