This is what the owner says:"This is a piece of Altec history ! It's a dual concentric 3 way made by LTV Ling Altec in the late 1950's or very early 1960's. The Model is a series 200, model 315-C Diffaxial "University Sound" Speaker Frame is die-cast aluminum...very heavily built .The wires are for potentiometer volume controls for the tweeter and midrange.Pots are not supplied. This speaker is all original and works perfectly. Impedance is 8 to 16 ohms, it's 50 watts capacity.Huge alnico magnet structure. Tweeter fires through the center of the woofer cone ala Tannoy. Sounds amazing !! GREAT tone and balance.Sounds better than my Tannoy Red Monitors. The cone had a tear in it which I had professionally repaired by glueing it from the back...You can see small creases in the front of the cone a bit but the cone is 100% solid and works as good as new. This sucker weighs 27 LBS!! It's a foot deep from front edge to the back of the cap. For those of you not familiar with LTV Ling Altec, here's the chronology as I found it on the net: 1947 James J. Ling forms Ling Electric Co., a Dallas-based electrical construction and engineering company, with an initial investment of $2,000. . 1956 Ling Electric merges with L.M. Electronics of California to form Ling Electronics. 1959 Ling Electronics merges with Altec Inc. to become Ling-Altec Electronics Inc. 1960 Ling-Altec Electronics merges with Dallas-based Temco Electronics and Missile Co. to become Ling-Tem to become Ling-Temco Electronics Inc. Aug. 1961 Ling-Temco Electronics merges with Chance Vought Aircraft of Dallas (the nation's second oldest continuous producer of military aircraft, founded in 1917) and the name is changed to Ling-Temco-Vought Inc"
