I have no idea what reasonable means to you, and what sort of performance you are looking for, ie LF, but here are a few simple DIY suggestions off the top of my head:- Tannoy Gold 15" currently around $US1200/pr off ebay ~95dB
- Tannoy Red 15" $3500 ish off eBay ~98db
- Tannoy DMT 215 Mk 2 new or 2nd hand
Check out Steve's Tannoy page , Han's Tannoy page or the Tannoy Yahoo group.
- Altec 604/605
- Gallante Buckingham clone : 15" Radian coax with 475 HF driver
- Lynn Olson's Ariel with a construction piccy here . They are about 94/95 dB efficient. Matching DIY TL sub here , click on subwoofs.Non horn new stuff in the States I can't help too much with. But I was once offered some sage advice here: "Get real, get horns" You know you really want to. :)
A set of Klipshorns will cost less than $US2k and are soooo much better than anything else out there for the money, that I've heard. You can even use false corners with them if your room doesn't have them.
Cheers
