At the very least, I would really consider moving it to the side wall like the later Cornwalls. This would not only greatly reduce the vibration directly to the unit, but would get it off the baffle with the drivers. A lot of people mount their crossovers outside of the box and report better sonics. I know some KHorn owners have done this (Les Lammers comes to mind). In talking to various people, it seems to only be a positive, besides that added wire and location pain. On the other hand, I would think just moving it to the side wall would make some difference. I think you should at least do this much.
