I like to recycle chassis as it poses a challenge as to how to layout the components in a way that covers as many holes as possible, while reusing certain good components. Like in my case i wanted to reuse the the tube sockets and transformer layout. But i nixed the can cap and old wiring and components. This one resulted in a nice sounding amp, but i have another project with somewhat the same topology, ie, PP EL84 stereo, that have gone thru 2 different circuits with still no satisfying result. The 2 circuits were a Scott 299 clone, and an Audio Note kit schematic. The AN circuit was not good at all with way too much gain resulting in too much noise. The Scott circuit sounded excellent but there was a problem in my circuit that caused the power trans to overheat. But, the EICO is maybe the best sounding at least for a low power pp el84 amp.
