Steve--No, the K-400 is not a diffraction horn. But give it a shot, it might sound better to you mounted vertically, easy enough to pull it out of the cabinet and rig something up. Once I used Altec 811 horns vertically and they threw a HUGE image for whatever reason, wrong use but good subjective result. But as I've cautioned before I may simply be full of ****. :-)
