Hey there kh,Well, you didn't guess my label, though you were close. Here's another hint: we released records by 3 of the bands in your list... though we only released one of the actual records that you list.
Coarseness. This is exactly the problem of the Cornwalls for me, unless I'm playing well-recorded classical music. The Hänssler series of Bach cantatas by Helmut Rilling, for example. They have little high-high end and a very creamy midrange.
But many recordings, especially the kinds of records you list above, sound quite coarse through the Cornwalls in my system.
Maybe I should check out the ProAc minitowers! What's the sensitivity?
Oh -- I did try Jensen caps on the Heresys I owned before the Cornwalls. They improved the mids, but they did not solve the problem (I found the Heresys possessed the same problems as the Cornies, but worse.)
Best,
J!
