Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

RE: A Question Only.

As a fellow engineer, former member of the AES, and audiophile who has fueled this debate with Paul W. Klipsch's quote, I agree with Bill Fitzmaurice here.

Audio is a SYSTEMS approach. From microphone to mixing to reproduction in a finite space of a home.

THE most important and most neglected component (besides your ears) is THE ROOM the speakers work into. The LEAST important is the wire

As to PWK's original comment about a 30 AWG voice coil, one would obviously suffer resistive losses over 10-25 feet with that wire. You do need to get the power there with NEGLIGIBLE losses. I believe 16 AWG is as good as anything for normal living room distances. Unless of course, you also want wire to jump start locomotives. Feel free to waste a little more money on copper that is beyond necessary if it makes one feel good (like monster cable).

But I do think that $15,000 cables is a game for fools, but I drink to their health anyway, (says P.T. Barnum).
