I also got a great deal a few years ago....four HS-500's
for $200., mint with orig. boxes, warranty cards, etc.

2-way's using Coral 8" w/4" underhung VC, and Coral horn tweeter,
both alnico. Ported box. Sound is very good for it's size, like
a KLH 17, but better, and I still need to upgrade the stock caps!.

Also Bi-amp-able, used them stacked using woofer only on bottoms.

I've since aquired some Coral bookshelf speakers using 8"
woofers, but quite small alnico magnets, nothing close to
the Hitachi's.
