Hi timp,Project for woofers are still in the backburner. I still have to do some fine-tuning etc. on a smaller speaker proj. 14W is okay for first order on the HF wtih tubes, I think 14W is ~half the 806a's power rating, just don't turn up the volume too high.
AFAIK vintage 414's wer designed for rear mounting. If you go that route try using threaded inserts to mount 'em from the inside. You could do some chamfering on the front panel when mounted that way (example below).
