Hi again,"Hey Uglogirl, (#2?)"
Yes. My friend Alejandra was the first but she has gone back to Argentina and now I carry on. :-) She also bequeathed her speakers to me.
"AFA the baffle step, it's worth looking up. Once you start fiddling around with speakers the reality of it becomes quickly apparent..."Ok. There isn't anything about that in WinISD so I'll have to learn it elsewhere. I keep seeing reference to it.
"Yeah, girls have better hearing on average. Funny that it's usually guys that are into hifi. My female friends are great at picking out small differences in my various experiments that most so called audiophiles can't hear at all."
That is a paradox isn't it? I got interested in good sounding stereos just for that reason... crummy ones hurt my ears. Some really good ones do too though. I listened to this guys $20K system once and had to put my hands over my ears. ha ha he called it definition but I called it ice picked in my ears. Then he called my stereo "mid fi". Humph. :-) An eico tube amp and Kef 104/2 is mid fi?
"Anyways, the better fostex fullranges hold their own in the highs. I'd lean toward the FF85 since it is the most efficent of those I suggested, and there have been very good reports regarding the sound quality."
I love Fostex speakers. I've heard them and they are so well made. I'd love to have some horns with one of the Sigma Fostae in them. Or Corals. They're just pretty.
"Remember to have fun.."
Rock.
thanks so much!
Kiira
