Admittedly the data in the plot you show is (nearly) the same as the polar map, but I just find the polar map so much more apparent than the waterfall. I also have a very strong dislike for axial normalization in polar data. It sometimes makes things look worse, sometimes better, but in reality it makes no sense to normalize the axis.In an un-normalized polar map tings like resonances can be clearly distinguished from difraction and reflection. On moves in frequncy the other doesn't. One is correctable with EQ, the other is not. These things are impossible to see in a normalized polar waterfall.
