see your point. EV's B6 gave ~1/2 octave lower response than unassisted alignment with more movement up above.some folks don't like idea of that filter - maybe sounded bad in some instances like my old Interface B running from an Eico tube integrated amp.
- think the audio world went xtra crazy after "ultrafi" movement and single-drivers - look at Nelson Pass's huge horn for that little driver!
theres probably some tricks in marketing where one builds up a "religion" - kinda like late Harvey Rosenburg's approach & little Tube-God booklet - or Karlson's graphs.....
