RE: It's just a one fool opinion and you're welcome to disagree

I've been listening to a JEL 414 set up lately with proper crossovers and 32B plastic horns with 804A woofers, all 16 ohm. They play all kinds of music and have good dynamics, natural tone and delicacy. I'm most impressed. They don't have the scale or ease of my early kHorns (with large wood, mid-range horns) but with my push pull 807 and Heath UA 2 amps they are wonderful. Better than with my Oliver Sayes SE 45 amp or Angela Instruments 91A monos.

I also have a very nice pair of Quad ESLs on Spider Leg stands and the JEL 414 is kind of like goldilocks IN MY ROOM. That's the most important consideration in my experiences; synergy of components and finding what works in your room. I've had the 414s and cabinets for a while; they didn't work well with the 32s until I got the 804As and especially the proper, current JEL crossover that uses Joe Robert's ideas.
