I've owned Paramours and I've also heard those owned by other people on a number of different speakers -- some full-range, some horns, some BRs.I've always thought they sounded really good. But, on complex stuff in largish rooms, they tend to bog down a little bit and lose the thread of realism they can otherwise present on simple-to-moderate passages. I remember one meeting where we had a bunch of 'em and a bunch of efficient speakers, and the Paramours kept giving up on Steely Dan's "Aja" whereas other 2A3s with more expensive (Magnaquest) output trannys kept tight control of the situation.
The circuit itself is certainly nothing to complain about (natch!). I tried improving the power supply (put in a filter choke) and improving the plate choke with somewhat better results. But if you really want to step up, you need some step-up output transformers!
