They can produce a lot of well defined bass in a tiny enclosure. Solen has a design that uses an XLS driver with a passive unit in an enclosure that's about 1 sq. ft.
For ultimate speed and coherence, a different design use the XLS in a sealed enclosure (total Q = .5). The box is somewhat larger, but in my opinion, a sealed box will be a more adequate match to the BLH in terms of speed and definition.
When money permits, I will build a pair of these to complement my FE168EZ BLH.
