I would opt for a simple 90 degree stubby waveguide with a 7" slot on the 15", the depth putting the voice coils of the low and high drivers in the same vertical alignment. The bottom of the waveguide (or both the bottom and top) should be angled around 15 degrees to avoid standing waves (translation- 400 hz "howl"). Make the cabinets floor standing, horns higher than ear height in your prefered listening position, shim the backs of the cabinets (or build them with the correct angle) so you are looking directly down the throat of the horn. Go for a fairly large internal volume, tune the cabinet low (32hz or so) with a large ducted port of approximately 1/2 the area of the cone. If your room and listening position is conducive to putting the speakers in the corners, angle the side facing the corner so the edge butts up to the wall when aimed directly at the "sweet spot". The inside need not be angled, you will loose internal volume doing that. If you can continue the plane between the two speakers with record storage or bookshelfs, better yet.
