You've got some nice prospects there. Personally, I'd rule out the Lowthers, Terry Cain is building a single driver speaker that's quite impressive.

My Straight 8s went down to about 40hz due to help from a nasty room mode. The soldering isn't that tough, much easier than the Foreplay and you can source pre-built cabinets for them as well as the Adire or Pis. It's a tough call, I liked the Adire's quite a bit when I heard them at VSAC, but I don't think they really move the air that the S8s do. With a sub, they were impressive though. I lived with the 8s for quite a while and they surely fit your description.
