Hi DavidI'm pretty sure I know what they were. They were Altec branded speakers produced by Sparkomatic after they purchased the former Altec Lansing consumer division in the mid 80's. Since that firm had pretty much just bought the Altec name, and none of the previous product line, it used entirely new drivers and electronics. They were triamped and very expensive. They never seemed to garner any success in the market and it was shortly thereafter that Sparkomatic changed their focus to entry level and computer speakers.
