The LaScala stops being a horn at 104 hz. I have tried several woofers in there, including the K43, whose Higher BL product led me to finally recommend to all my fellow Klipscheads, the Eminence Kappa 15c (4 ohms like the K33) it has about 4 db more output at 400 Hz. than the stock woofer.I believe I was the original guy to discover this about 15 years ago and recommended it ever since. It even worked in my Edgarhorn Titan II's , but not as good as the JBL 2220, Which you cannot buy new since they are about 35 years old., But you can get new Kappa 15C's from Parts Express, like I did. It is then a simple woofer swap with no crossover changes and no cabinet modification at a much LOWER PRICE than an Altec. Iis an immediate improvement in sonic DETAIL where it counts. It's also the goal stated by the Original Post. But I do thing he's barking up the wrong tree with his woofer choice.
