OK... I agree with you, but, that doesn't mean it sounds bad. I think too many people try to do "everything" with their systems. Designing a system specifically for the music you listen to in the room you listen to it is a great idea.What specifically makes his, "a system geared towards small scale classical performances".
Small cabinets? small woofer? etc..
I guess what I'm getting at is: these pieces to this puzzle are versatile and with just a few tweaks you can get an "optimized" system for your room and listening habits. Discussing the pieces of the puzzle is more informative than generalizations and name calling.
I would also suggest that there are as many people in small apartments or small room or that listen to small jazz ensembles, etc.. All for which, Joseph's system would be very hard to beat. And people like different things. Bass is hard to get right, so if it doesn't sound like its suppose to, I think a lot of people, especially people who listen to it live as a profession, would rather just concentrate on the midrange and dynamics etc.. Its easy to criticize someone else's compromise.
