I have bought, enjoyed and sold two pairs of Model 19s in the last ten years. I think they are terrific speakers.( I have owned Klipsch Cornwalls and K-horns, and I think the Model 19s are much better speakers.) Know nothing about Edgarhorns so I can't compare.
As others have said, I'd try to make sure the components are original so that you're not paying for somebody's "experiments". The Altec Lansing engineers knew what they were doing. If the foam around the horn has deteriorated, look around on the web for replacements. They do alter the sound for the better.
The current prices on e-Bay are completely out of line in my opinion. Maybe that's why they have been there for months.
I paid $1,800 and $1,200 for the two pair I bought. The $1,200 pair was a really good buy. They were in better shape than the other pair!
If you have the room I'd go for them!
