Philips encapsulated yellow-block polycarbs sound great

I can remember reading the original Audio articles and the follow-ups.

But I did find that a HP only xover, Fs trap, and eq for a large dome sounded a bit better out of the 'sphere enclosures. Not a HUGE amount, but worth it. Adding sand was a bit better still. Perhaps the air cored inductors need it most.

I'd also upgraded the xovers in a late series pair of Celestion Ditton 15s with the polycarbs, not simple, but they did sound nicer. Added bitumen to the walls, left out in late mfr series.
