The Cornwall II sounds fine as is (assuming all the parts are in good working order), but sounds even better if you cut off the 0.205" push-on connectors and solder the (stock) wires direct. Prior to 1985 all the driver connections were soldered. The change to push-on connectors came with the change to front-mounting of the drivers.
I am getting Kester to recommend an appropriate low-temperature solder for this as it takes a skilled operator otherwise (the plastic the terminals are staked in melts easily).
The only other thing I would do is replace the caps with some inexpensive polypropylene types, mylar was stock.
That's about the best that can be done (IMO) short of re-designing the whole kit-and-caboodle.
