There were furniture versions of the 9844; the Carmel and the Heath AS-21. The Malibu used the 9844 innards but in a vertical array.

I had a set of 1961 AS-21s and they were excellent. Sometimes I thought they were a bit better in the mids than my 19s though the 19s had better bass and highs. Both types were equally dynamic.
