To add to this discussion, (Correct me if I am mistaken) Altec is now part of ElectroVoice International, which means that though the Altec name is still alive in pro audio, much of what made Altec truly great has been lost amongst the ubiquity of EV equipment. But, I do agree with the comment on the value of the vintage gear still out there. While old Altec still commands high prices, when you consider it's quality, and the cost of good prosound gear today, vintage Altec is still an excellent buy. Good Luck, Doug Eisemann.
