Gariver---Respectfully, I think this Alnico thing is overstated, I hear no difference between my ferrite 900 series Altecs and my Alnico 800 series drivers. I've heard sensible reasons why Alnico could be better for long gap woofers but not for compression drivers. And I've never heard a better compression driver than the ferrite Radian 475 and both Tom Danley and Jim Hunter have said that nothing measures better than Radian. And the new throat geometry of the latest JBL 1.5" drivers is made possible by the use of shallow ferrite magnets. Now I think that Alnico compression drivers are very pretty and when buying used I'd as soon as not buy Alnico but I don't buy into the Alnico sounds better thing.
