I agree with Az below. Check your interconnects first to see if you have a shielding problem (hum or buzz). Then see if your source is making the hiss. What source are you using anyway? Do that before going nuts with your amp. At least get some gear to swap in anout to see where the problem is.If you do want to buy a new amp, having $2500 to spend gives you many, many choices. I would suggest buying a classic amp/preamp or integrated. That way you can sell or trade at a later without taking a bath. I've given up on the high end stuff for most part. It's expensive and depreciates rapidly.
I know you prefer solid state, but if you listen to rock and alternative a nice low power tube will probably give you better vocals. I have found that the amps that provide the best soundstage are also the ones that reproduce voices best. Low power is key here. Too many amps compromise sound qulaity for power -- tube or solid state. Having efficeint speakers free you up so that you can use flea power amp.
I know very little about new amps. I primarily make my own. But I have heard good things about the Moth 2A3 amp. You can also check out Croft. Croft is an English company with a cult following. Part of the mystique is that Croft does not have a lot of production. For solid state, you might want to check out Linn and Quad.
I really suspect a fully restored push pull EL84 integrated tube amp from the classic era will serve you well. You will most likely be able to sell for more than you paid for it. Find a good service tech and have him restore a classic. Good candidates would Eico HF-81 integrated, Fisher 500C receiver, Pilot 620 receiver (actually any Pilot integrated), or McIntosh (not the best sound but the best resale value).
Several people well restored classics. One near me is Akron Antique Audio (Akron, Ohio) usually stocks some restored classics for sale. They occaisonally list on eBay. Check the AA sponsors for more. Don't let anyone tell you tubes are hard to maintain or are unreliable. They are very reliable and easy to fix. I have far more trouble with repairing solid state.
Good luck and congrats on your new speaks!
Dale.
