I am always enthused when someone can give some insight on the original component Wharfedales. I have to remind myself that these wonderful speakers go backa half century. I was always an admirer of G. A. Briggs and if any one person was my mentor in audio, he was at the top of the heap. His speaker designs were way ahead of their time and still can hold there own when properly installed.I find it interesting that you sold your Airdales only 2 years ago. It would be interesting to hear your observations about them. I'm not sure the Airdales were the same as the corner 3 way using the same componentry. Years ago I had 2 three way sand filled corner systems and still think it was one of the most musical systems of all time.
British Indostries was the distributor for Garrard, Leak, Kester,& Wharfedale. In the late 50's the Super 3 and 8 sold for $22.50 each. Super 10 for $42.50, Super 12 and W15 $78.50 each. In relative terms I believe they offered excellent value. My first foray in audio was a Super 8 in a 3.5 cu. ft. reflex enclosure driven by an HF-12 EICO amp. A Miracord changer with GE VRII cartridge was my signal source. The whole neighborhood could not believe the sound ! I was pretty proud of my accomplishment at age 14 !
