from the Allied and Lafayette catalogs from the early to mid 1960's. I know they made a full range 8" and IIRC they also made a 12". The specs are very nice (again, IIRC) and included an extended top end. I also remember tham being pretty expensive which may account for the lack of info.Wharfedale was sold in the states during the Golden Age, and their speaker systems are not that rare. I am not sure why you see fewer drivers. Perhaps it was "the British Sound" thing, the availability of cheaper drivers, or competitiion in the high end driver market.
As for use, stick them in an open baffel.
