I would not recommend the DX3s in boxes, but, given DX3s in boxes, I would say that smaller is probably better because of better upper bass response. I actually built the 2.5s for my PM6As, and any added mid-lower "bass" is more than offset by a drop in upper bass with most music. While I will not pile on with negative comments about the boxes, I will say that it appears that for some the Lowther frequency "spikes" are annoying enough to offset what the Lowthers do much better than any other cone driver. Also, a downside to the Lowther's clarity is that one can really hear the differences in amplifiers -- or any other parts of the system, for that matter. Given that fact, I would not be surprised if you much preferred a nice 2A3 or 300B to your 845s, to the point where you would'nt look back. Any way, the Lowthers do tell you all about the rest of your system, and your source material, warts and all. I find my 2A3s magical with the Lowthers.Paul S
