Re: Lowther - Bass Reflex ??

I have the Lowther PM2C's and DX3's...I use a pair of Monoblocked Decware Zen triode amps to drive them, and an old Eico HF-20 to drive a dual voice coil sub, which is fast enough to sound great with the Lowthers.
My experience is that the Lowthers will sound great in just about any box i put them in as long as i use the sub...They have awsome mids and highs and the sub really brings them to life..In fact i have the DX3's in old, heavy, solid wood KLH enclosures with a 4.25 inch hole where the klh tweeter used to be....these boxes are about a cubic foot and tune the Lowters to about 50-55 cycles...and with the sub, i'd swear the deep bass is eminating from the lowthers!! thats pretty good meshing and the overall sound is truly magnificent.....Soo its hard for me to understand why people go to such extremes using the rear horn with the lowthers to get deep bass which they probably won't get anyway, when excellent, fast subs are so cheap and commonly available..Lowthers excel in the mids and highs, and with a good fast sub they can rock...and slam!! lol
