The Shearwaters are very nice speakers but probably not efficient enough for a SET based system with an 8 wpc amp. On the other hand, you would need a pretty high quality, high efficiency speaker to beat the Shearwaters. I would wonder also if the Straight 8's are really an upgrade for you.If it were me and I wanted to go the SET route and didn't mind a DIY version, I would look at the Oris horns on the Welborne site. In my opinion, to beat the Shearwaters you will need something more on this order.
