I have not heard a Lowther-type driver through a front horn, so I can't speak to that. But I never found the compression driver/horn I could live with. That Altec 811 gives me a headache.(Of course) if a Lowther-type driver is used, only the highest and lowest frequencies remain to be dealth with. And I KNOW you've got the bass covered! Are you asking about a cone-type driver made by TAD that could be front horn loaded? If they make anything like that, it's news to me.
BTW, I am not suggesting you buy a Horning speaker. I am suggesting he's on to something with that asymetrical quarterwave tuning system, which allows a one-amp, basically crossover-less, 3-way speaker. That has to be a good thing! Of course, the mids are direct in his design, but no reason you couldn't load them for more efficiency, use a more efficient woofer than the Beyma, etc.
