I'd have to agree. The times that I've heard the TAD 4001 they did sound nice. But they were on the bright side that ranged from very fatiguing to just a bit bright. I've never heard a 4001 system at anything but a show.The 2001 I've only heard once...and it sounded a bit vieled dull and flat. But again...I've only heard them one time...so perhaps there could be a better match out there.
The 1601a is what I use in my system and it performs really nice. It weakness...it doesn't go extremly low. But what it does is does well. With the DEQX system it matches up great with my 500Hz EdgarHorn and preferred 2441.
That said...I'm still not counting the TAD midrange drivers out. I'd love to listen to them in more horn configurations including an all TAD set-up such as the DEQX based TAD speakers that Andre has from e-speakers.love to hear what you think
