Well, I admit being a tad slow sometimes, and I am finally beginning to suspect that your "quad array" is not stacked Quad 57s. Duh...So what do you mean by "quad array? Because, like I said, I am always interested when I hear promises of speakers that will allow 45s to play full range and loud. I have not heard 45's do either real bass or top of treble (over 12-15 kHz), at least not on par with the range they do SO well. Or macro-dynamics, for that matter; they just conk out.
Most big multi-horns that spec way HE in fact seem to gobble as much power as you can throw at them, WAY more power for just a little more grunt, and all with a sad dis-continuousnous (to bastardize one of HPs ideas).
