Re: So, What makes a Lowther DX3 better than a Fostex 206e

Yea, I have read and exchanged a few emails with Martin King. He is a very helpful guy with lots of great ideas and comparative information. I should qualify my associated equipment to put the systems quality in perspective. Sony Xa777ES SACD/CD player, ASL AQ 1006/845 DT SET mono block amplifiers, Dual 31 stepped passive volume pot/preamp, Vampire Wire Continuous Cast Silver innerconnects, Double twisted pairs of Beldon 89259 speaker cable (remarkable), Seperate ac spurrs with six 8 foot grounding rods in yard, and a 4 tier Mana amp stand.
Well so far I do not hear the sonic advantages of the Lowthers when compared with the Fostex 206e's in a David Dicks 1.3 bass reflex design made with Baltic Birch Plywood and finished with 10 coats of tung oil. The larger ,David Dicks' 2.5 bass reflex boxes, also made with 3/4 inch Baltic Birch now have the Lowther DX3's installed in them. As mentioned previously, the 206e 1.3 combination absolutely blew/BLOW me away with their you are THERE realism! They are so much more detailed than anything that I had ever owned, including the previous leader, Martin Logan CLS1's. I fully expected the Lowther DX3's to tkae things to the next sonic level, although I could not see how this would be possible. After 4 full days of break in, the Lowthers sound great, but, not as great as the Fostex 206e's.
I ahve decided to move the Lowther speakers to another room for further and continuous break in.
