Re: We're getting a bit off the question, Tom.

Hi Bill

Real measurements trump simplified theory and like I said I am not too familiar with Horn resp or what assumptions it makes (although 25 years ago I probably would have given my arm for a program like it)
So far as the ML’s math, it does what it is intended to do and is much closer to reality than “the other” math popularly used for horn design. What it designs for is the efficient range of operation and from this standpoint, it has always been very close to the measured result when considering acoustic power (and not including the horn dependant directivity).

Please don’t get me wrong, I am not suggesting your horns don’t work or don’t do what you say, not at all, just that so far as ML’s math being way off, its not when you consider acoustic power as it interacts with directivity to produce the on axis frequency response.
Also, I applaud your efforts in promoting DIY horn building, I wish I could take a more active role in it as you have, keep up the good work.
Cheers,

Tom
