Re: Unity Patent

Thanks for posting this John. I know Tom is happy all the paperwork finaly went through.

For those reading, John is probably one of maybe 3 people outside of Sound Physics Labs I know of who has constructed and understand what is going on with the concept behind the Unity horn. As you mention, getting the time & phase correct is a bit trickier than is the amplitude. I know Tom has learned a lot about the process of making everything "jive" since the first VFL. The current C^3(Cinema Cube for my installers, and Contractor's Cube for the commercial market) speaker using the 17", 60x60 horn has come a long way in refinement from early stages. Tom is going through the TD-1 again applying what was found with the 17" version. The TD-1 with a more proper crossover may have performance to even be useable as hi-fi. I do know that with the current playing around Tom has been doing, he really has an itch to finally build a lens with a 32-36" mouth dimension in a 3 way configuration. While not likely to be complete, we may bring some sort of monster to the Summer Horn Bash. I'm working on bringing a pair of the C^3's and some Contras, where these would be bonus.

I do know Tom would be interested to see what you(John) have done with your horn, maybe this will offer an opportunity for it.
