I notice the output of the power tube seems to be inversely portion to the micro-dynamic, transparency. From 300b few yrs ago, now the amp I enjoy the most is 45. My speaker is Tannoy, 97db, so it is still fairly easily to drive. I listen to violin music a lot, my 45 amp, about 2w, has more than enough juice to handle my need. If I want more power, than I switch to my PP amp or other SET amp.
After all, it is all depends on your music preference, how big is your room.
