With five watts, you can do peaks of about 100db, assuming 94db/w at the listening position. Assuming 16db of headroom, that would mean an average listening level of 84db, which is pretty low. In other words, your amp would be clipping regularly even at quite moderate levels. This might not bother you. I used a 3W amplifier with 89db/w/m speakers for years, in a small (12x12) room. This was OK, for me, at that time, but I wouldn't do it again. Today, I still like micro power amps, but I like to use them in a way that they aren't being pushed to their output limits. I'm using the same 3W amps on 110db horns in a multiamping setup, in a room of about 16x25. This still doesn't actually give me all that much headroom.
