Their live DLP "Grateful Dead" (around 1970, the first of the live DLPs, the one with the colored skull) is one of my best rock records of all time.Bertha, Playing in the Band, Railroad Blues etc show that they _do_ groove like hell. No other west coast band came even close. At least not for me when I compare i.e. everybodys darling Quicksilver´s Happy Trails or Country Joe, Jefferson etc
Of course I have to admit my total affection for Garcia´s blend of r´n´r, acid, jazz and bluegrass.
I found out this morning: Little Feat grooves too on my reborn system...
