Probably comes down to the size of your room and personal preference. I use Altec 604-8G's and when I first heard a 45 on them in a small room (11 x 15) I loved it, best I had heard to that point.Now I have everything set up in a 12.5 x 22 dedicated listening room and the 45 doesn't cut it, 2A3 is very nice but 300B power just might be more like it. I still go back to the 45 every once in a while because I just love the sound of that tube but on the 604's, it's not enough for me.
