I have just received my Phillips SACD 1000 and was not prepared for how good it would really sound. This is a fabulous sounding player. Sweet, silky, and dimensional are a few of the adjectives I would use to describe this unit. I think this player is a winner. I have no desire to spend more on digital after hearing this unit... It is truely musical... Digital grit is gone. The difference is the contrast of using ASA 50, and ASA 800 film for enlargements of photographs. This player would be a good value at the asking price of 2k. At some of the prices recently, it is a steal. I am not selling my VPI ARIES JMW 10, but I am enjoying digital again. The SACD 1000 does redbook very well. In the future, I will submit a more thorough analysis of the units sound with more music played through it. Happy listening, Jeff
