If I understand this post correctly, after a couple of years this is finally the first release on SACD of any recording by any artist of a classical warhorse, the Beethoven 4th concerto. I’m flabbergasted. What are some other glaring omissions in the catalog?I don’t have SACD yet. I can tell you that I won’t feel motivated to jump in until I have at least 4 or 5 versions of this concerto to choose from (on redbook CD there are dozens of versions available, including many very great performances). I know that some of you will encourage me to jump in anyway support the medium, but I am sure that many others have the same reaction I do.
By the way, who are the performers and recording label of this release? Would you buy this for no other reason than it being on SACD?
