Steve Tyrell CD vs. SACD

I purchased the Steve Tyrell CD when it first came out. It reminded me alot of Doctor John. It seemed to be well recorded--clean --nice dynamics, etc. Then the SACD came out and I had to have it---if for no other reason to promote SACD. There is such a dramatic difference that it sounds like a completely different mix. IS that possible?

The SACD seems to be recorded at a lower level----maybe just less in your face. The soundstage is deeper and wider---more seperation of instuments and space around sections of the orcestra. Dynamic contrast is better on the SACD.

It almost seems like the CD was mixed to sound good on a boom box or car stereo and the SACD was mixed for in home stereo. Would appreciate any comments from members who have a similar comparison.
